PBA Controversy: Converge decision to bench Quincy Miller is game-fixing?

Converge is not only the buzz around the PBA because of their very hot winning streak. They are also making decisions that are worth it to be talk about.

The most recent one is the decision to bench Quincy Miller in a decisive game Against Northport. Converge is in a tight three-team race for two spots of twice-to-beat advantage.

Deciding to bench Quincy in this crucial part of the tournament is a very big risk to take. I do not think the positives by resting or disciplining their import outweighs the big leap in their lead for a twice-to-beat advantage.

According to coach Aldin Ayo, Quincy was late during one of their practice because he slept too much after his birthday party.

Quincy did not make a comment about it which we can conclude to be a sign that he understands what is happening.

Although, the most fascinating reason is Converge trying to work around to avoid playing either San Miguel or TNT with a twice-to-beat advantage.

In short, they fixed the game to get a better position in the standings.

Actually, I do not buy that reason. Primarily because San Miguel still has a good chance of landing in the middle of the playoff ranking. Which means Converge can found themselves facing against the Philippine Cup champion without a twice-to-beat advantage.

In short, I believe that the reason is more about resting or disciplining their import.
