PBA Controversy: San Miguel should replace coach Leo Austria with coach Gallent?

Believe it or not but COVID-19 is still affecting the league. San Miguel Beermen was without their head coach in the last three games because of the health and safety protocol.

But, could that have been a blessing in disguise?

Coach Jorge Gallent took charge and went 3-0! They played TNT Tropang Giga, Phoenix Super LPG and Terrafirma Dyip.

Of course, Terrafirma Dyip was expected. TNT was in disarray. So, a win was also expected. Their game against Phoenix was close but they managed to pull out the win.

What is very interesting to me though when I look at those games was the diversity in the top 3 scorers of the Beermen.

Their import was consistently part of the top 3 but their are five locals who managed to be part of it, at least once. CJ Perez was the only one who managed to be in their twice.

I think, that speaks a lot about coach Jorge personality in giving opportunities to his star-studded line-up. And knowing what we know about coach Leo, I think more SMB fans will prefer this.

Other than that though, I did not see enough to say that coach Jorge is the right guy for the job. But, winning three games under pressure speaks also about coach Jorge's command of the team. 

If coach Leo will falter this again in the playoffs, I hope the franchise can consider giving a chance to coach Jorge.
