I feel really bad for the Magnolia Hotshots franchise and their fans. They are a perennial playoff contender but they cannot really go over the humps to win that crown.
At this point, the management should accept the reality that the peak of this current roster is already reached. To increase the peak form of the team, the easiest path is to improve its talent level.
In short, they need to upgrade by getting better superstars. So, who are the superstars that they can actually target?
Robert Bolick
This is the easiest one. He is the most available. He again provided a Best Player of the Conference worth of performance this Commissioner's Cup. He produced 21 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 2.3 three-pointers made and 42% FG per game.
With his presence, I am pretty sure that their spacing in their offense would be much better and that can open up better ways for coach Chito Victolero to maximize his roster.
Moala Tautuaa
I look at Moala as a PBA star. Yes, he is just a back-up in the San Miguel Beermen but that is because he is the guy supporting the most dominant player in the league.
Moala can instantly upgrade the rotation of Magnolia. He can easily play with Ian Sangalang because of his passing and willingness to shoot three-point shot. While also becoming a different weapon than Ian that coach Chito can work around with.
