This 2023 PBA Governors' Cup is building up to be as entertaining as the first two tournaments in this season and maybe even better.
So, here is my current power ranking of the teams!
#10 Terrafirma Dyip
We are forced to give the last spot to Terrafirma because it is more realistic for them to catch up the playoff train than the other two teams below them.
#9 Phoenix Fuel Masters
Phoenix defense is still doing well. They are averaging the fourth best opponent points per game. But it is not really translating to victories.
#8 Rain or Shine Elasto Painters
Their victory without an import is a testament to the greatness of coach Yeng Guiao. Can he further push this team to another level? It will be mind-blowing if he can pull it off.
#7 Meralco Bolts
I am not feeling good about the Bolts. KJ McDaniels is suddenly not the scariest import. They are currently at the bottom of points per game and it is hard to see the worst scoring team winning the championship.
#6 Magnolia Hotshots
I am not really sure Antonio Hester can keep up his current numbers. Fortunately for the Hotshots, Paul Lee is playing really well and looking like a top 10 scorer in the league again.
#5 NLEX Road Warriors
Wayne Selden is a monster. He is currently producing 34.3 points, 46% FG, 30% 3FG, 6.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 3.7 steals and 1.0 block per game.
#4 Converge Fiber Xers
Jamaal Franklin looks like he can still play in the NBA! The big issue though with Converge could be the observation that Franklin may not be treating his local teammates the right way.
#3 TNT Tropang Giga
TNT is currently at the top of the standings but I am not confident that they are better than the two teams at the top of this ranking. Mikey Williams could be sidelined soon. Pogoy has an injury. And they have new coaches. It is hard to trust them for now.
#2 Barangay Ginebra San Miguel
I think Ginebra fans are still calm with what is happening with their favorite team. But I think the signs that father time is catching up to Justin Brownlee is becoming much more obvious this tournament.
#1 San Miguel Beermen
San Miguel is not a perfect #1. Coach Jorge Gallent has shown to have tactical mistakes. Cameron Clarke is not on par with the other imports.
Nevertheless, they are the safest team to put in this top spot. They are just too deep to not rely on them in the playoffs.
