Kobe Paras was one of the most hyped players coming out of high school. With his look and physique, the basketball fandom of the Philippines anticipated his ascend.
That ascend to superstardom has not happened. And Kobe is again in the purgatory after leaving Altiri Chiba, a Division 2 squad of the Japan B League.
Under Altiiri, Kobe only managed 5.3 points, 0.9 rebound, 1.0 assist per 12 minutes playing time per game. It shows that Kobe has not found the right team.
Now, Kobe will need to decide if it is time for him to go home and join the upcoming 2023 PBA draft. Personally, I hope he will continue to work his way to play in another International league.
Although, going back to the PBA and regaining his confidence and establishing his role may also be a good option for him.
The question now is, is he a candidate for the #1 pick?
I think, yes. No matter how deep the upcoming draft is, the one who will hold the #1 pick will still consider Kobe because of the amazing combination of potential and marketability.
I think Kobe will be perfect for San Miguel. Knowing the relationship of Terrafirma and San Miguel, that could be a possibility.
