Remember the name, CJ Lane.
A 6'10 Filipino-American, is garnering a lot of attention as he plans to join the Philippine Basketball Association Rookie Draft in September. Former Blackwater coach Ariel Vanguardia believes Lane's height and athleticism will give him an advantage over other players vying for a spot in the PBA.
Vanguardia previously tried to bring Lane to the Manila Stars, which he coached in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League four years ago, but was unable to do so due to the league's height limit of 6-foot-5. Lane was also considered as a replacement for De La Salle University's Ben Mbala in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines before.
Despite his failed attempts to play in the Philippines before, Vanguardia believes Lane could dominate in the PBA if he pursues his plan to enter this year's draft, potentially even landing a spot in the top three.
One more notable prospect that informed the media about his desire of joining is Larence Domingo. Alab Pilipinas stalwart Lawrence Domingo, who had planned to enter the draft three years ago but was unable to process the necessary documents due to the pandemic.
Despite the delay, Domingo remains excited to fulfill his PBA aspirations and believes he can exceed fans' expectations upon his return to the Philippines. Charlie Dy, his agent, will represent Domingo when he joins the PBA Draft.
Fans are excited about Lane's rumored guard-skills, and his height could be a significant asset in the PBA, where big men are highly valued. If he does enter the draft and performs well, Lane could be a valuable addition to any PBA team.
