PBA Controversy: PBA stars are caught in a BRAWL in Cebu!

A basketball game in Cebu featuring an international and local team with PBA players ended abruptly due to a brawl that was caught on video and circulated online. The altercation began when a foreign player started swinging at NLEX Road Warriors' JR Quiñahan after a rebound play, to which the PBA veteran defended himself. Quiñahan's former PBA teammate and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters big man Beau Belga threw the ball at the instigator.

Game officials immediately intervened, but the game was eventually called off due to the incident. Jio Jalalon of the Magnolia Hotshots and Robert Bolick of the NorthPort Batang Pier were also present during the brawl. A Facebook user named Macrose Pasaol Brigoli uploaded a clip of the scuffle, which has since gained attention on social media.

The incident highlights the potential dangers of physical altercations during sports events, particularly when players are from different teams and backgrounds. The PBA has had its share of high-profile brawls in the past, including a 2018 incident between the Philippine and Australian national teams that resulted in 13 players getting ejected. While the league has implemented measures to prevent fights, such as suspensions and fines, it remains crucial for players to practice good sportsmanship and respect for their opponents to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

The big question now is, should the PBA suspend those who are involve in the skirmish? Looking at the circulating video, it is the foreign player who instigated the fist fight.

Nevertheless, JR Quinahan and Beau Belga still fought back like they are thugs and it is still a bad look to see PBA stars participating in fist fights during the game.

And knowing how strict they are about the rules of playing in games that are not under the PBA, I expect the league to suspend them for several games in the upcoming season.

And I think, it is the right thing to do!
