Kagawa Five Arrows, a basketball team in Japan, has been relegated to B3 in the B.League’s Division II. This comes after the team finished at the bottom of the league with a disappointing record of 16-44 for the season. As a result of this relegation, the status of Roosevelt Adamson, the team’s import player, is now uncertain. Adams, a former top pick in the PBA, had an average of 9.2 points and 5.3 rebounds during the season.
Another team that was relegated to the last division of Japan's premier league is Juan Gomez de Liano’s former club, Earth Friends Tokyo Z. The demotion of the Five Arrows was confirmed after their recent defeat against Nara, which led to the club being downgraded to B3 next season without waiting for the finals. The team's associate director, Hideaki Fujita, issued a statement apologizing for not meeting the expectations of their supporters, stakeholders, sponsors, and associated organizations.
The team's primary objective for the season was to move up to the B1, but they failed to achieve this. Instead, they faced the harsh reality of being demoted from B3, which was their initial goal of being promoted to B1. Fujita takes full responsibility for the demotion, citing his incompetence as a representative. The team expressed its gratitude to their supporters and sponsors, who have financially supported their operations.
Despite the setback, the Five Arrows are determined to bounce back in the upcoming season. Kagawa has already released world imports Angus Brandt and Nigel Spikers on Thursday, a move that might signify the start of rebuilding their team. Meanwhile, the Iwate Big Bulls and Saitama Broncos are the teams most likely to be promoted to B2 next season, as they have an impressive record of 45-7 and 43-9, respectively.
This could be the perfect timing knowing that San Miguel Corporation failed to get the final championship of the last tournament.
