I am not surprised at all that Converge is involve in the first trade after two teams are only remaining in the last competition of the 2023 season.
The question now is, is this trade fair?
Converge received: #10 pick, Adrian Wong
Magnolia received: Abu Tratter and David Murrell
In terms of eye test, I have been a big fan of Tratter. I saw him to be capable of being a good anchor of a defense because he has an above-average nimble feet. The advance numbers though are not backing that up. He only have one tournament with one positive net rating.
I am big fan of Murrell though. Although, I think Converge is more inclined to play two real big guys than one versatile forward like Murrell. Wong has potential but his efficiency this season is bad again. Last year, he was at 49% from beyond the arc.
And then that #10 pick. If this draft ended up to be as deep as what I am projecting it to be. Like in my two latest mock draft, at #10, Will Gozum, Caelan Tiongson and Henry Galinato are still available. And I think those guys have the upside that is comparable to that of Tratter at this point.
But being objective enough, I think it is not fair by a finger. Magnolia clearly wins in terms of value.
So, the grading of this trade is very easy to do.
Magnolia: A
Converge: D
Converge should have asked for more At least another 2nd round pick. If not possible, I wonder why they did not push for Jerrick Ahanmisi. He is better than Adrian.
