Ginebra Justin Brownlee is the Jaworski of this generation?

The comparison has been made before, but it was never more evident than in Brownlee's performance in Gilas Pilipinas' semifinals victory over Indonesia at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

Brownlee scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading the Philippines to an 89-77 win. He also had two steals and two blocks, and he was a force on both ends of the floor.

Jaworski was known for his toughness and his ability to lead his team to victory. He was a one PBA MVP and a multiple times PBA champion. He was also a member of the Philippine national team that won the gold medal at the 1978 Asian Games.

Brownlee is a different player than Jaworski, but he has the same competitive fire and the same desire to win. He is a leader on the court, and he is a role model for his teammates.

Unlike Jaworski who is very expressive with his emotions, Brownlee lead his team with his humbleness and efficiency inside the court.

If you watch him play, he actually lacks the flare and bravado that we love as Filipino. But, he is oozing with that Never Say Die spirit and attitude.

He again showed that in that game against Indonesia. He was already tired and hobbled. But the guy just keep on hitting shot.

He refused to give-up. He showed the PUSO that we have been looking for from our national team the moment coach Chot Reyes returned.
