PBA Trade Rumors: Is Ginebra right in targeting Tyler Tio in a trade?

With Robert Bolick now out of the equation, Ginebra is said to be setting sights on Tyler Tio to beef up their point guard spot. Bolick, who was traded to NorthPort in exchange for Stanley Pringle, was a key part of Ginebra's rotation during their recent championship run. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in the 2022 PBA Governors' Cup.

Tio, on the other hand, is a young point guard who has been playing well for Phoenix in his rookie season. He is averaging 8.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Tio is known for his speed and athleticism, and he has a good shooting touch.

If Ginebra is able to acquire Tio, it would be a major boost for their point guard position. Tio would give Ginebra a young, dynamic player who can create his own shot and run the offense. He would also be a good complement to veterans Scottie Thompson and LA Tenorio.

The addition of Tio would also help to address one of Ginebra's biggest weaknesses in the recent finals against TNT Tropang Giga. In that series, Ginebra struggled to create their own offense and often turned the ball over. Tio's speed and athleticism would give Ginebra a better chance of creating open shots and getting to the rim.

Of course, there are still some questions about whether or not Tio is ready to be a starter in the PBA. He is still a rookie, and he has not played in a lot of big games. However, Tio has shown flashes of potential, and he has the tools to be a successful point guard in the PBA.

It remains to be seen if Ginebra will be able to acquire Tio. However, if they are able to do so, it would be a major move for the team. Tio has the potential to be a star in the PBA, and he would be a great addition to Ginebra's roster.
