The San Miguel Beermen are reportedly interested in acquiring Jason Perkins from the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters. The rumor was first reported by PBA Insider on Twitter.
Perkins is a 6-foot-4 forward who is averaging 15.2 points, 45% FG, 33% 3FG, 1.4 three-pointers made, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game this season. He is a versatile player who can score inside and out, and he is also a good defender.
The Beermen are looking to add another scoring option to their lineup, and Perkins would be a good fit. He is a proven scorer in the PBA, and he would give the Beermen another dimension on offense. Add that forward is the position that they badly need and targeting him is logical.
The Beermen would likely have to give up some assets in order to acquire Perkins, but it would be a move that would make them a more competitive team.
Unfortunately for us who are looking for a balance league, the deal could be a farm team type of deal. This is not the rumor that we need.
If Phoenix cannot sustain their PBA team, I hope that they just sell the franchise.
