PBA Cotroversy: Is SMB Terrence Romeo still a superstar?

Terrence Romeo appeared to aggravate his hamstring injury during San Miguel's PBA On Tour game against Converge on Sunday night.

Romeo participated in the first half of the game at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig but was noticeably absent from the San Miguel bench later on.

He finished the game with five points and five rebounds as the Beermen lost to the FiberXers in overtime, 113-111.

San Miguel later confirmed the injury to their star player and it is in the harmstring.

Romeo scored all five of his points in the second quarter when the Beermen held a 43-32 lead at halftime.

Overall, he shot 2-of-9 from the field.

Prior to this game, Romeo sat out San Miguel's previous game against Meralco, which resulted in a 92-89 loss in Tiaong, Quezon.

Alec Stockton, a competitive player who shares a budding rivalry with Romeo, had another intense confrontation with him during the PBA On Tour game between Converge and San Miguel on Sunday night.

Stockton emphasized that there is no personal animosity between the two former Far Eastern University players, considering it a momentary clash that is part of the game.

The heated exchange between Romeo and Stockton occurred just four minutes into the game, with the Beermen leading 6-2. Both players received technical fouls as a result.

This incident brought back memories of a similar confrontation between Stockton and Romeo during Game Two of the Governors' Cup quarterfinals between the Beermen and the FiberXers.

However, Stockton quickly moved past the conflict as he led Converge to overcome a 16-point third-quarter deficit and defeat San Miguel, despite Jericho Cruz's impressive 41-point performance, with a final score of 113-111.

The 6-foot-1 Filipino-American contributed a game-high 23 points, shooting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. He also recorded a game-high nine assists and scored eight points in overtime.

Stockton was responsible for Converge's final two crucial plays. He hit a step-back three-pointer over Moala Tautuaa to tie the game at 111-all with 20 seconds remaining. Then, after pressuring Tautuaa inside the paint, he assisted Jerrick Balanza for the go-ahead basket on the transition, securing a 113-111 victory with only 1.5 seconds left.
