NLEX is preparing for a significant roster revamp as they target their inaugural Commissioner’s Cup championship in the Philippine Basketball Association. The tournament is slated to kick off on October 15.
According to NLEX head coach Frankie Lim, the team's focus is on strengthening their lineup after falling short in the semifinals of the previous Governors’ Cup.
So, what are the three trades that can revamp the roster of NLEX into contention? To make it a balance list, I will give a losing trade, a winning trade and a fair trade.
Losing Trade
TNT get Brandon Rosser
Blackwater get Justin Chua, Jaydee Tungcab, Mark Acuno, Sean Anthony, Kib Montalbo
NLEX get Troy Rosario, Dave Marcelo, 2024 BWE 1st
This is connected to the trade rumor of Brandon Rosser to TNT. So, NLEX will loss here knowing how high the potential of Brandon is. Nevertheless, they still get a starting caliber big in Troy and a blue chip pick in that 2024 1st of Blackwater!
Fair Trade
Matt Nieto, Kris Rosales and 2024 NLEX 1st for Will Navarro
Navarro will be coming of a long-term injury. That reduced his trade value. So, I think Northport should be more than happy with getting a very good prospect in Matt and a potentially good 1st of NLEX. I added Rosales to lock it in as a fair exchange.
Winning Trade
Sean Anthony for Tyrus Hill
This one is a small trade. I am just a big believer of Tyrus that trading a productive veteran like Sean should be worth it.
With those three trades, the core 5 of NLEX will be Rosario-Adamos-Navarro-Trollano-Alas. And their main supporting five will be Miranda-Hill-Herndon-Semerad-Paniamogan.
