PBA Free Agency: Did Converge make the right decision of just RELEASING Jeron Teng?

Veteran forward Jeron Teng has entered the PBA free agency market following his release from Converge.

Teng, a 6-foot-2 former standout from De La Salle University, is now exploring his options as an unrestricted free agent. His representative, Danny Espiritu, revealed that Converge initially offered him a two-year contract. However, Teng had concerns about his future with the team as his previous contract was set to expire on August 31. It appeared that he might be traded since he had not received a new contract offer.

Converge eventually extended a new two-year deal to Teng, but they later placed him on the trading block. Teng decided not to accept the offer, and Converge subsequently released him from his contract.

Despite his release, Teng has received offers from various PBA teams. He and his representatives are carefully evaluating these options before making a decision on his next move.

In the 2022-23 season, Teng played 10 games for Converge, averaging 11 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. Converge reached the quarterfinal round of the Governors' Cup but was eliminated by San Miguel Beer.

Now, I am wondering if they made the right decision of letting Jeron instead of going for the trade discussions that they had with other teams.

I wonder if Converge just does not want to transact with any of the San Miguel corporation and MVP teams and that is forcing them to make decisions that are hurting their team.
