2023 Top 100 PBA Players: Ginebra's new star is here! 50th to 26th!

Here is the continuation of our Top 100 for year 2023!

We continue with #50 to #26! They were scored according to these four areas. Just take note that the points are utilized as a tool to rank all the players according to that area and not an absolute reflection of their skill level. That means a player with 28 points in Scoring in 2022 who got 27 do not necessarily mean that his scoring regressed. It means that in terms of ranking all the players available in Scoring, he move down.

Scoring (S) - 30 Points
This category primarily assesses a player's scoring capability. We closely examine their points per game while also placing significant emphasis on their efficiency in scoring. Moreover, we consider the various ways a player can score on the court, valuing those who can score effectively through diverse methods.

Defense (D) - 30 Points
Defense is a crucial aspect, constituting half of a player's game. This aspect evaluates a player's capacity to defend one-on-one. It also encompasses a player's ability to operate within a team's defensive strategy. Additionally, we account for a player's rebounding skills and their contribution to controlling the tempo of the game.

Offense (O) - 25 Points
While scoring is the ultimate aim of offense, this category examines the other elements that contribute to creating favorable scoring opportunities. It involves a player's aptitude for breaking down defenses and creating plays for teammates. Furthermore, we consider a player's decision-making, reading of the game, and ability to create space for his teammates.

Intangibles (I) - 15 Points
This criterion encompasses four vital attributes that enhance a player's value: leadership, chemistry, clutch performance, and health. These aspects are distinct from the previous categories but significantly elevate a player's overall worth. For instance, the value of a player like LA Tenorio is elevated by his leadership skills, chemistry with the team, ability to perform under pressure, and optimal health status.

In the case of ties, they will be ranked according to age with the youngest being the highest. The previous performances of the players were also considered in assessing them.

Rank. Name of the Player. Scoring/Defense/Offense/Intangibles

50. S. Santillan 12.5/17/15.5/11
49. R. Ilagan 16.5/9/19.5/11
48. A. Semerad 11.5/20/16/9
47. S. Anthony 12.5/17.5/18/9
46. B. Amer 17/11/15.5/13.5

I have a hunch that Gabe Norwood and Santillan are talking a lot in practice because Santi is slowly becoming a demon too on the defensive end. I think there is more to the game of RK if he find that super modern system. The guy is one of the scariest three-point shooter in the league.

Anthony has a good claim of being the best three-and-D forward in the league. It is hard to see it right away in his boxscore numbers but in his Advance Stats, it is very obvious. Sean Anthony was once recognize as the most underrated player in the league and even up to this point, he is underrated. This season, he still managed to manufacture 10.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Amer has revitalized his game. He has proven himself to be one of the top clutch scorers in the league. A role that is hard to justify.

45. A. Dionisio 10.5/21.5/16.5/8.5
44. A. Santos 13/21/12.5/11
43. G. Mamuyac 12/21.5/15/9
42. M. Tautuaa 14/18/15/11
41. Jron. Teng 19.5/14/14.5/11

Is there a much bigger beleiver of Dionisio out there than me? I lov45e his sustained development as the best young rim-protecting versatile spacer in the league. Arwind is of course the best form of that type of player and he remains in the top 45, heavily due to what he did in the last few years.

Gian is underrated in the eyes of the public because he is playing for Rain or Shine. Nevertheless, 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 43% FG per game in his rookie season is a superb way to start. He is also one of the most reliable defenders in the league.

Moala Tautaa is still the best back-up center in the league and it is not even a discussion at this point. I still hope that soon, he will find a team that will give him that starting spot that he deserves.

Unfortunately for Jeron, his sudden released has reignited the hate for him. What is bad about it is that these fans are underrating him. Last season, he produced 12.9 points, 44% FG, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

#40. R. Ular 18/19/13/9
#39. V. Manuel  23/14/13/9.5
#38. Jerich. Cruz 19/16.5/15.5/9
#37. J. Arana 15/22.5/13.5/9
#36. S. Pringle 20.5/15/15.5/10

Are you even aware of the existence of Ato Ular? He is arguably one of the biggest draft steals in the history of the PBA. He came out of nowhere into playing himself into a legit starting position during his rookie season. On the other hand, Manuel is one of the most recognizable name in the league today, thanks to his consistency in scoring in the paint.

The next guy is also a teammate of Manuel. A complete package for a big guard. He can bully the tiny ones and out-skill the bigger defenders. Last year, he manufactured 11.3 points, 44% FG, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Arana is an impressive rookie. He has the right size and grit to carve himself into a strong role in Converge. His defense and post scoring for a rookie is advance and the projects him  with a very high potential. Lastly for this set, is a former top 10 player in Stanley Pringle. Injury and father time is currently working together to bring down his level of play. Last season, he posted a statline of 8.2 points, 45% FG, 42% 3FG, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

#35. S. Sumang 18.5/10/22.5/11
#34. M. Ahanmisi 22/14/17/9
#33. A. Maliksi 21.5/12/18/11
#32. B. Belga 11/19.5/20.5/12
#31. T. Tio 18/13.5/20.5/11

Are you shocked that Sumang is ranked this high? The guy just delivered his most complete season, averaging 8.8 points, 45% FG, 35% 3FG, 3.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. He is arguably one of the most feared pull-up three-point shooter and with that trait, he has the capacity to open up the offense in a very big way.

Ahanmisi gave us his breakout season. That helped him cash-in with a three-years contract with the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. In terms of shooting, Maverick is complete although, he is not really elite in one category.

Another candidate for a top 5 stat in the most underrated player in the PBA list is Maliksi. He is a consistent double-digit scorer for almost a decade now. Last season, he manufactured 12.5 points, 40% FG, 37% 3FG, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

Belga is easily the Draymond Green of the PBA. His passing ability is really unique. He is very smart in using angles and finding his teammates. Defensively, his physicality is helping him limit their opponent.

Tyer Tio could be the reason for the sudden surge of demand for Ateneo players. Tio produced 11.7 points, 42% FG, 37% 3FG, 2.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He also ended up with +4 Net Rating.

#30 J. Erram 10.5/28.5/16.5/8
#29 R. Nambatac 22.5/14/15/12.5
#28 A. Tolentino 21/17/16/10
#27 I. Sangalang 20.5/20/16/8
#26 A. Black 20/16.5/20.5/10

JP Erram is easily the most underrated center in the league. It is combination of being the most hated and being good on things that are not easy to appreciate. JP's rim protection fundamentals could be the best in the league.

Nambatac is slowly increasing his averages in the league. Last season, he averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 39% FG per game. Arvin delivered his best season with a statline of 14.5 points, 43% FG, 39% 3FG, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He is a good candidate of being the deadliest shooter in the forward position.

Ian is slowly sliding in the ranking as his production and performance in the court is getting worse. Nevertheless, he is still an elite offensive center. He manufactured 12.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 46% FG per game.

On the other hand, Aaron Black is rising in our ranking. Black is proving that he is one of the best guards in the league. He is one of the most complete guard. He has this pretty nasty first step that helps him become one of the best in breaking down defenses. Add his superb passing and you have a guard that is very hard to stop.
