2024 PBA Draft: Losing this season is not that bad for Converge!

Converge’s initiation into the PBA Commissioner’s Cup was a rocky one, with the team experiencing a 103-84 defeat against the Blackwater Bossing at the Philsports Arena. The team, composed of a mix of rookies and recent additions, struggled to find their footing on the court. This lack of cohesion was particularly noticeable among the rookies and new players, who seemed to be grappling with pre-game jitters.

Despite the less than ideal start, the team’s coach, Aldin Ayo, remains optimistic. He acknowledges the team’s current shortcomings but also recognizes the potential for growth. He believes that these initial challenges are part of the team’s journey and will ultimately contribute to their development.

The team’s performance in their second game against TNT was also less than stellar, marked by the ejection of TNT’s import and their best player, Calvin Oftana, who recorded six fouls before the end of the game.

However, it’s important to remember that these early setbacks do not define Converge’s future in the PBA. In fact, they could be a stepping stone to greater success. Converge holds their 1st round pick in the next draft, and if they end up as the worst performer this season, they will secure the #1 pick. This could be a game-changer for the team, as the #1 pick is the key to acquiring Justin Baltazar, a highly sought-after player.

While Converge’s start in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup has been challenging, it’s far from the end of the road. The team’s current struggles could very well be the catalyst for their future success. As the saying goes, “Every end is a new beginning.” For Converge, this could be the beginning of a successful journey in the PBA.
