2024 PBA Draft Controversy:MPBL or PBA, Baltazar explained his plan next year!

Justine Baltazar, a two-time MPBL MVP and instrumental in leading the Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda-coached squad to its first-ever MPBL title, shared insights with Spin.ph regarding his future in professional basketball. Despite being a fan of Barangay Ginebra's Japeth Aguilar and San Miguel's seven-time MVP June Mar Fajardo, Baltazar expressed that he's not currently contemplating joining the next PBA draft.

In an interview following his outstanding performance in the MPBL, Baltazar revealed his preference to continue playing for Pampanga in the regional league. With impressive regular season averages, he acknowledged his potential to stand out in any league but emphasized the importance of his role in the provincial team's progress.

Concerned about the impact of his departure on the team, especially after their championship win, Baltazar highlighted the objective of defending their title—a feat yet to be achieved in the history of the MPBL. He recognized the significance of playing with pride for his province and expressed contentment with his current situation, prioritizing happiness over financial gains.

When asked about potential offers from teams in the Japan B.League during the MPBL playoffs, Baltazar acknowledged inquiries but stated his focus on preparing for the MPBL finals. Despite the allure of playing alongside his idols Aguilar and Fajardo, he emphasized the need to weigh his commitment to Pampanga and its residents.

With his notable attributes, including size, agility, and outside shooting, Baltazar's future decision to join the PBA draft could have a significant impact on the league, making him a potential standout player.

At the end of the day, choosing to become a local legend is a choice that he can make. It will be his life to live. If living his life as a legend in their province is more fulfilling than becoming a star in the PBA, then it could be worth it.
