PBA Import Highlights: SMB replaced Ivan Aska!

In response to June Mar Fajardo's absence due to a fractured finger, San Miguel Beer has decided to alter its approach for the ongoing Commissioners’ Cup in the Philippine Basketball Association. The team has brought in a new import, Bennie Boatwright, to replace Ivan Aska.

Gee Abanilla, the team manager, confirmed Boatwright's arrival in the city and anticipates his imminent contribution to bolster the team's frontcourt.

While some minor details in Boatwright’s hiring are still being finalized, it's likely that Aska might play one last time before the official transition when the Beermen face Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

San Miguel Beer is currently grappling with significant challenges, with key players sidelined due to various injuries. The absence of seven-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo, coupled with the injuries to Vic Manuel, Terrence Romeo, Jeron Teng, and Kyt Jimenez, has left the team short-handed. Coach Jorge Gallent is eager to address the team's struggles, particularly after their recent loss to NorthPort.

The upcoming game against Barangay Ginebra presents an opportunity for San Miguel Beer to bounce back. Although Boatwright may not be a dominant import, his credible shooting skills could be a valuable offensive asset for the Beermen.

The team is navigating through a challenging period, and the addition of Boatwright aims to provide some stability and offensive versatility.
