PBA Free Agency: TNT should make Mikey Williams now the highest paid PBA player?

TNT, the once-invincible juggernaut of the PBA, finds itself in unfamiliar territory. The playoffs, usually a foregone conclusion for the MVP Group's flagship team, are now a precarious tightrope walk. Injuries and a crucial free agency misstep have exposed cracks in the armor. The question looms large: is it time for TNT to break the bank and bring back Mikey Williams?

Let's be honest, TNT isn't lacking in talent. Even without Williams, their roster boasts firepower. But there's a certain swagger, a winning chemistry that seems to be missing. The whispers of a disgruntled Mikey Williams, and the subsequent PR fallout, haven't helped either. Injuries to key players like Roger Pogoy and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson further hampered their performance.

Coach Chot Reyes himself acknowledged the changing landscape of the league – "Teams are getting better." NLEX, a perennial underdog, is exceeding expectations under Frankie Lim's blue-collar tutelage. Even Terrafirma Dyip, the league's punching bag for years, has pulled off upsets against the likes of Barangay Ginebra.

Mikey Williams' absence is a gaping hole. He's more than just points and highlight plays; he's the heart and soul, the spark that ignited TNT's championship runs. Bringing him back wouldn't be cheap. He'd likely command the highest salary in the PBA. But here's the thing: TNT can afford it. They're the MVP Group's golden child, a well-oiled money machine.

Look, TNT has the talent to compete. But to reclaim their throne, they need that extra something special. Mikey Williams is that special. He brings star power, championship experience, and a winning mentality.  Sure, his price tag will be hefty, but sometimes, you have to pay to win.  If TNT wants to return to the top of the mountain, they might just have to break the bank and bring Mikey Williams back home.
