PBA Trade Rumors: TNT Nambatac trade is FAIR now?

The revised TNT-Blackwater trade centered around Rey Nambatac has the PBA rumor mill buzzing, but for all the wrong reasons. Let's unpack the situation and see why some fans are finding this whole ordeal rather comical.

Initially, TNT offered Blackwater a package of Kib Montalbo and a second-round pick for the talented guard Nambatac. This proposal, however, was deemed insufficient by the PBA trade committee. Here's where things get interesting – to sweeten the deal, TNT throws in veteran big man Jewel Ponferada.

Now, let's delve into the curious case of Jewel Ponferada.  Many fans remember him being included in the Henry Galinato trade primarily as a salary cap filler.  He eventually ended up with TNT anyway as a free agent signing, essentially rendering the trade aspect for him pointless.  So, his trade value is already questionable.

So, the question begs – how is adding Ponferada suddenly enough to convince Blackwater to part ways with Nambatac? Here's where the laughter (or groans) begin.  Fans are scratching their heads at the apparent logic behind this revised trade.  Ponferada, a player acquired by TNT through free agency, is now being used as a major trade chip to pry loose Nambatac.

Here's a simpler way to look at it: Imagine trading away a player you signed for free, just to get another player.  It's a head-scratcher, to say the least.

One source close to the trade suggests this revised package might be the only option agreeable to all parties involved, including the trade committee.  While TNT management remains optimistic, the lingering question is – why did the trade committee initially reject the simpler Nambatac-for-Montalbo-and-a-pick deal, only to seemingly approve it with the addition of a player with minimal trade value?

The PBA is known for its exciting on-court action, but this trade saga is proving to be more of a slapstick comedy.  Hopefully, some clarity emerges soon, but for now, the curious case of the TNT-Blackwater trade leaves more questions than answers.
