San Miguel Beermen is one of the few teams in the PBA that fully understand that size is still the most important ingredient in winning a championship in the PBA.
So, it is not that hard for me to believe that the Beermen offered P1.4 million monthly salary to Greg Slaughter when he decided to return to the Philippines.
Now, it is also not surprising that he refused the offer. We all know that Greg was not happy with the way his stint ended with Northport Batang Pier. Even his stint with Ginebra was not the smoothest.
Now, Converge wants him. Should we believe it?
One thing is for sure, Converge have the financial capacity to pay Greg. They may not offer that big of a salary but I am pretty sure that they can give him a higher salary compared to what he is getting from Manila.
Also, Converge is more than aware of the importance of size knowing that they are led by Gov. Delta Pineda who exhibited that size wins championship in his MPBL championship conquest with Pampanga.
The biggest hurdle now is the reality that the rights to Greg Slaughter is currently with Northport Batang Pier. I doubt Northport will let go of his rights for nothing.
