PBA Trade Analysis: Terrafirma trade draft picks to Northport and Ginebra!

In professional basketball league, trades are easily one of the most fun thing to talk about. Not all trades involve big names though.

So, it was not shocking that we did not hear much in the social media about the two small trades that Terrafirma did after the draft. Let us talk and determine the winner.

Northport trade Brent Paraiso
Terrafirma trade 2026 2nd round pick

Brent managed to get a lot of opportunities last season with Northport. It is shocking though that his college coach, Bonnie Tan, is now unloading him for a 2nd round pick. Paraiso got the minutes and we have clear evidence though that he needs to work on a lot of things. For Terrafirma to give a potential top 3 2nd round pick for a guard that may not be good enough as early as 2026, is not that good of a move.

Winner: Northport

Ginebra trade Didit Hanapi and Paolo Hernandez
Terrafirma trade 2025 2nd round pick

The two second round picks of Ginebra were traded for just a single second round pick. Is it worth it for Ginebra? This looks better if we will look at Hanapi and Hernandez as the #5 and #10 pick of the 2nd round. Wherein Terrafirma may have used for better prospects like Brandon Ramirez and CJ Payawal.

Unfortunately, we cannot assess it that way. Hanapi and Hernandez both entered the draft with shooting as their #1 offering. Unfortunately, they are even struggling now in MPBL. Should we expect them to be better in the PBA?

Ginebra will get a potential top 3 2nd round pick in a draft that could even be more loaded than the 2024 draft. But, I also do not want to really annoint them as winner because they could have used those two picks to get Ramirez and Payawal and those two are good catch for those picks.
