The race for the 2025 PBA Rookie of the Year award is expected to be tighter than what we witnessed with the 2024 PBA Rookie of the Year award.
Stephen Holt performance in the Philippine Cup made it hard to argue that he was not the best rookie. Can Sedrick Barefield repeat that?
Justine Baltazar is the #1 pick but if he missed the entire Governors' Cup, he may not be eligible for the said award.
#5. Evan Nelle
Evan has a good path for consistent playing time in Northport. If he can become a reliable shooter, he could be a full-fledge starter right away, increasing his chances for the ROY award.
#4. Justine Baltazar
The plan is for Baltazar to finish first his obligation with Pampanga. Nevertheless, there is still a chance that he can catch a few games with Converge in the Governors Cup and establish himself as a monster in the last two tournaments, leading to a possible ROY award.
#3. Kai Ballungay
There is a good argument that Kai is the best center now for Phoenix. They will try to play their import there and Kai can still play with him because of his outside shot.
#2. Sedrick Barefield
A lot of people are excited to see how Sedrick will do being the main man of Blackwater. If he will play at Stephen Holt level, then he should be one of the favorites.
#1. RJ Abarrientos
When was the last time that the Rookie of the Year came from Ginebra? They have a shot now with RJ. RJ has a path to become the starting point guard of Ginebra and that will make it easier for him to get the Rookie of the Year award.
