PBA Team Power Ranking: Barangay Ginebra is NOT A CHAMPIONSHIP Contender?

One of the negative effect of the 4-point shot is the sudden unavailability of stats. Nevertheless, we trust what we saw during games. Here is our updated rankings of all the teams according to their chances of winning the crown.

#12. Blackwater
After an undefeated preseason, Blackwater suddenly found out that their NBA veteran import will not even pass as a local PBA starter.

#11. Terrafirma
The lack of chemistry and the body movement of Christian Standhardinger make it easy to predict that Terrafirma will not be catching the playoff train.

#10. Phoenix
I think I overrate their import. Phoenix should decide quickly. Maybe, their import can still recover. Or maybe, tanking is the way for Phoenix this season.

#9. Northport
Their decision to replace a very good import was mind-boggling. Nevertheless, Venky Jois has proven himself in the past.

#8. NLEX
Myke Henry looks very capable of scoring at will against any defender in the PBA. Robert Bolick is also on his groove.

#7. Converge
Converge and NLEX can be interchange and I will not argue. I decided to put Converge at a higher position because their frontline is better equip for the playoffs.

#6. Meralco
This drastic slide by the Meralco Bolts in our ranking is because of the glaring old-man performance of Allen Durnham.

#5. Rain or Shine
I have a hard time pushing them at the top 4 for now. Aaron Fuller is not a celebrated veteran PBA import but man, the guy is arguably the most hardworking rebounder in the league in this tournament.

#4. Ginebra
I am really intrigued if coach Tim Cone can really turn this much younger roster into a championship caliber team right away.

#3. TNT
The play of TNT in their first two games made a lot of fans and analysts hopeful that the championship-caliber TNT is back.

#2. Magnolia
Even with their loss on opening night, I am still comfortable keeping Magnolia at this 2nd spot. The chemistry is prestine and I think their NBA veteran import will improve as the tournament progress.

#1. San Miguel
They are clearly the favorite now. The 4-point shot may have created enough additional space for Fajardo to give us Kraken 2.0.
