This is an open letter to Northport Batang Pier. A letter that I believe resonates with a lot of PBA fans. This is not only my letter, but a letter of a lot of PBA fans.
To Northport Batang Pier.
Thank you for shocking the entire PBA universe. After your expected struggles and showing in the Governors' Cup, nobody expected that much from you in this Commissioner's Cup.
You just did the unthinkable and currently at the top of the standings and you even deliver a decisive victory against Hongkong Eastern.
We are not aware of what is the current relationship of Northport to one of the conglomerates in the PBA. But, what I know is that even though you are rightfully anointed as a farm team for several years now, you still have a clear fan base.
A fanbase that started during the championship era of Coca Cola. A fan base that witnessed the Cinderella Run of Powerade Tigers.
A fanbase that is still hoping that the nightmarish status of the team as a farm team will finally end.
We know that we cannot control the business side of the franchise. But fans are hoping that you can reconsider. The current core of the team is young. Coach Bonnie Tan is legit.
Is there a chance that you can take it seriously from now on? Is there a chance that Northport can finally embrace their fanbase and stand for them?
