Magnolia’s Offer for Robert Bolick Rejected by NLEX
Magnolia Hotshots made a move to acquire Robert Bolick, but NLEX quickly turned them down, according to PBA insider Snow Badua. The veteran trade rumor specialist first hinted at the rejected trade offer through a social media post, stating that Magnolia should consider revisiting their proposal because their initial package was a "no-brainer" rejection by NLEX.
Later, in a podcast, Badua revealed that Magnolia's offer consisted of Jerrick Ahanmisi and Aris Dionisio in exchange for Robert Bolick. However, NLEX immediately declined, and for good reason—the package simply wasn’t enough for a player of Bolick’s caliber.
Why NLEX Said No
Bolick, NLEX’s franchise star, is one of the best guards in the PBA today. He is an elite scorer, a strong playmaker, and a leader on the floor. Since joining NLEX, he has revitalized the Road Warriors, making them a legitimate threat in the league.
On the other hand, Ahanmisi and Dionisio are solid role players but not franchise-changing talents.
- Jerrick Ahanmisi is a capable shooter and has shown flashes of being a key contributor, but he has yet to prove that he can be a go-to scorer or a high-level playmaker.
- Aris Dionisio is a versatile defender and hustle player, but he doesn’t move the needle enough for NLEX to even consider losing Bolick.
For NLEX, trading their superstar for a shooter and a defensive forward would be a clear downgrade.
Magnolia Needs to Offer More
If Magnolia is serious about acquiring Robert Bolick, they need to step up their offer.
NLEX will likely demand a more significant return, possibly including:
- A proven PBA star (like Paul Lee, Calvin Abueva, or Mark Barroca)
- A first-round pick
- A high-potential young player
Without an impact player or a draft pick in the deal, NLEX has no incentive to move Bolick. The Road Warriors know how valuable he is, and they won’t give him up unless they receive a game-changing return.
Will Magnolia Try Again?
The phrase "Try nyo kaya balikan, baka bumigay" in Snow Badua’s post suggests that Magnolia might still have a chance—but only if they significantly improve their offer.
For now, NLEX holds all the leverage. Magnolia must decide if they are truly willing to part with major assets to land Bolick or if they will look elsewhere for roster upgrades.
