PBA Trade Rumors: Converge, Rain or Shine, Northport, Phoenix Top Trade Asset!

The 2024–2025 PBA season has delivered thrilling drama so far. While TNT Tropang Giga dominated the first two conferences, the rest of the league continues to shuffle, chase, and strategize. Contenders are rising, dynasties are reeling—just look at how both San Miguel and Magnolia missed the playoffs in the last tournament. That used to be unthinkable.

As we enter the crucial stretch of the All-Filipino Cup, it’s clear no team is guaranteed anything. With that in mind, let’s take a look at four teams who could be key players on the trade market. Each one has a standout trade asset that could either help them reload or rebuild.

Converge: Jeo Ambohot

With the rise of Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar, Converge might already possess the future of the PBA’s frontcourt. That makes Jeo Ambohot, a talented stretch big with size and mobility, expendable. While still a solid contributor, Ambohot doesn’t have the ceiling of Baltazar or Arana and could fetch a quality rotation piece—possibly a wing scorer or a veteran guard—in a trade. Converge has the luxury of depth here and might want to capitalize.

Rain or Shine: Beau Belga

It’s a bit surprising, but Beau Belga remains one of the most talked-about veterans in trade discussions. Despite his age, his leadership, passing, and floor spacing from the center spot continue to be valuable. Several contenders would likely overpay just to get Belga’s personality and toughness on their bench. With Rain or Shine loaded with young bigs, now could be the right time to cash in on Belga’s final high-value years.

NorthPort: Jio Jalalon

Yes, Jio Jalalon was only recently acquired, but NorthPort should seriously consider moving him—especially with his free agency looming. The Batang Pier are overloaded in the guard department and still thin up front. If they can flip Jalalon for a young big man or versatile forward, it would align better with their current roster needs. The window to do this may be short, but the opportunity is there.

Phoenix: Jason Perkins

It’s tough to imagine Phoenix without Jason Perkins, but reality says it might be time. At 31, Perkins doesn’t quite fit the younger core Phoenix is trying to build around. His offensive skillset and leadership will make him a top target for contenders. In return, Phoenix could demand a broad, future-oriented package—possibly including draft picks, young wings, or a defensive anchor that aligns with their timeline.
