NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat trading for Morant trade suggestion!

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has had a lopsided 2025-26 season, in which he has offered little to no help to the franchise in terms of availability.

In addition to playing just under 80 games in the last three seasons, Morant is reportedly among the big names to be dealt this offseason.

Among the biggest suitors for the 26-year-old guard could be the Miami Heat.

The proposed deal discussed by Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey is one that could shape up to be an intriguing one. The Heat could have a dynamic new centerpiece, while Memphis could create significant salary space to accelerate its rebuild.

Proposed Heat Trade for Ja Morant

Bailey views the 26-year-old Grizzlies star as a likely trade asset this offseason. In a recent article, he proposed the Heat swing a deal that would land them Morant in a two-team, three-player deal. Miami would send Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell to Memphis in exchange.

Wiggins only joined Miami ahead of last year’s deadline from the Golden State Warriors, so too Mitchell from the Toronto Raptors.

The Grizzlies already traded Jaren Jackson Jr. at the trade deadline and will finish this season below the play-in seeds. Morant only played 20 games this season, having his lowest point average since his second year. He is also shooting at a career-low 41% from the floor and, coupled with his health issues, Memphis might have had enough.

“At this point, given his robust history of injuries and suspensions, as well as his continued struggles as a jump shooter, the rebuilding Grizzlies should just be happy to be getting out of Morant’s contract without taking on too much long-term money,” Bailey wrote.

Why the Trade Makes Sense for Both Sides

For the Miami Heat Ja Morant would instantly become the dynamic, high-upside centerpiece the Heat have been searching for. At 26, he still has his prime years ahead. His explosive athleticism, playmaking, and ability to create highlight-reel moments would pair beautifully with Jimmy Butler (if he stays) and the rest of Miami’s gritty roster. The Heat have long needed a true alpha scorer who can take over games, and Morant fits that bill when healthy.

For the Memphis Grizzlies Memphis is clearly in rebuild mode after trading Jaren Jackson Jr. at the deadline. Taking on Wiggins and Mitchell gives them two solid rotation pieces while shedding Morant’s large contract. The move would create significant salary cap flexibility, allowing the Grizzlies to pursue younger talent and draft assets as they reset around their remaining core.

The Reality Check on Morant

Morant’s 2025-26 season has been a major disappointment. He appeared in only 20 games, posting career-low scoring and shooting numbers (41% from the field). Combined with his well-documented injury history and past suspensions, the Grizzlies appear ready to move on. Bailey’s point is blunt but realistic: Memphis should be happy to exit Morant’s deal without taking on excessive long-term money in return.

What This Would Mean for the 2026 Offseason

If the trade goes through, it would be one of the biggest moves of the summer. Miami would be going all-in on a high-risk, high-reward star to chase another championship window. Memphis would officially hit the reset button and begin a full rebuild.

For your international audience on ph-ballgm.blogspot.com, this kind of high-stakes trade talk is always exciting. It’s the same drama we see in the PBA when a superstar demands a change of scenery or a team decides to blow it up for the future.
