PBA Trade Rumors: Titan rejecting two offers from TNT for Munzon was the RIGHT DECISION?

Here is the reality of the PBA, and it’s a reality that fans need to start accepting: You are either a serious organization, or you are a feeder system. You are either a predator in the trade market, or you are a petting zoo for the league’s powerhouses.

And what I am seeing from the Titan Ultra Giant Risers? I love it. I absolutely love it.

According to a report from SPIN.ph, TNT—the league’s runner-up—tried to walk into the Titan front office and dictate terms. They tried to offer Rey Nambatac in a straight swap for Joshua Munzon. Let me stop you right there. That is a joke. That is the kind of offer you make when you don't respect the person sitting across the table from you. Titan rightly said "no". They looked at the board and said, "We aren't giving you our best player for a guy we could draft or find elsewhere".

Then, it gets better. TNT tried dangling Jordan Heading. And to Titan’s credit, they did their homework. They looked at that massive P900,000-a-month contract, realized it expires in August, and decided they weren't going to be left holding the bag. That is the behavior of a sharp, independent franchise.

Listen, for years, we have seen teams in this league roll over the second a "big brand" comes calling. They act like they are just happy to be in the room. Titan is acting like they own the room. They are demanding Henry Galinato be included in the deal. They are demanding a premium, two-for-one package because they know the value of an elite offensive weapon like Joshua Munzon.

If you are a fan of Titan, you should be thrilled today. This is what independence looks like. You don't have to be a farm team. You don't have to be the team that trades your stars for spare parts just to keep the status quo.

Whether Munzon stays or ends up with Converge or Phoenix—who are both currently sniffing around the trade—doesn't matter. What matters is that Titan Ultra is making decisions based on their leverage, not somebody else's convenience. They are operating like a legitimate, modern, independent business.

It is refreshing. It is smart. And frankly, the rest of the PBA could learn a thing or two from it.
