Here is our new series of articles wherein we will try to predict the next player for each team that could ask for a trade. So, of course, do not expect guys that are reported or rumored already that they asked a trade like Alec Stockton of Converge and Joshua Munzon of Titan. For this article, we will talk about San Miguel, TNT, Magnolia, and Terrafirma.
Terrafirma Dyip: Juami Tiongson
Magnolia Hotshots: Chris Koon Koon has been a fixture in a lot of trade buzz and fan-generated trade suggestions across this blog-page, but up to this point, we have not heard that he has officially asked for a trade. That could change rapidly. If he continues to receive low minutes and remains buried in the Hotshots' deep rotation, he could easily head in that direction. If Koon decides to force the issue, his blueprint is obvious: he will try to become Jerrick Ahanmisi 2.0, replicating the path of the former Magnolia bench player who orchestrated a move and quickly blossomed into a star for another franchise.
TNT Tropang Giga: Jordan Heading The contract of Jordan Heading is rapidly approaching its expiration date. While the TNT Tropang Giga undoubtedly have the financial capacity to pay him a lucrative extension, having the money does not necessarily mean management will agree that Heading is worth his specific contract demands. If negotiations stall or the two sides remain far apart on his market value, Heading could very well ask for a trade to a franchise willing to meet his asking price rather than testing the waters of free agency with uncertainty.
San Miguel Beermen: Jeron Teng It is incredibly difficult to remember a recent incident of a San Miguel player actively asking for a trade, simply because the Beermen are a perennial championship contender and players rarely want to leave a winning culture. But if we have to predict one, the most logical possibility is Jeron Teng. Before San Miguel acquired him, Teng was a legitimate star and a primary scoring option for Converge. Since arriving at SMB, he has been relegated to a specialized role player. If Teng wants one last chance to prove his star quality and secure starter-level touches, knocking on the front office's door and asking for a trade is the best, and perhaps only, path forward.
