2017 Gov. Cup BPC Candidates - Scoring is King

The standings is not putting a clear picture of the real ranking of the teams. Even the top players for these conference is as hard to establish. So, who are the top 10 candidates for the Best Player of the Conference?

#10 Kevin Alas

Kevin is having a hell of a conference. The revival of NLEX happened primarily because Alas finally grabbed the lead role. He is currently the fourth highest scorer with his 17.14 points per game. What worries me is the fact that he is very reliant on slashing to the basket because he is a very bad outside shooter, 3/18 from three.

#9 Scottie Thompson

As usual, Scottie is filling up stat sheets this conference. One transformation that he made was focusing more on making plays for his teammates than continuing to be a phenom in grabbing boards. He is currently the leading assist man this conference with 8.6 assists per game. He is doing that in 29.2 minutes of play, meaning at 36 minutes of play, he could be dishing 10.6 dimes!

#8 Calvin Abueva

Alaska is having a slump. Okay. It seems like it is more than a slump. Nevertheless, no one should point to The Beast as one of the reason because he is back to his old self. Calvin is averaging 15.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks. That 11.3 rebounds is currently #2 in the whole league.

#7 Jayson Castro

The Blur is not as deadly as his 2016 Gov. Cup form but still, he is putting up numbers. He is producing 16.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 38.5% 3FG and 54.5% FG. He is 9th in scoring, 7th in assists and 15th in FG%.

#6 Stanley Pringle

As Terrence suck all the limelight, spotlight and all other kinds of light, Pringle is their in his shadow, growing bigger, as well. He is putting up the second most points per game this conference. He is also the 12th best rebounder and 14th in assists. I just wonder how Globalport continue to under-perform even with a top 10 player as their 2nd best.
