According to some reports, Mahindra ended their ties with Ryan Arana and Gary David. That opens the door for the playoff contenders who needs capable veterans in their bench. But, which team needs them the most?
Alaska Aces
Injuries rocked the Aces so hard that they will be playing for their lives in their last game. They do not have any long-term injury but the short term injuries accumulated to the point that they are now on a six-game losing streak.Adding one of Arana and David will be added insurance if they manage to claim a playoff ticket and the injury riddle remains unsolved. Not only that. Arana and David will bring additional playmaking on the team.
Brgy, Ginebra San Miguel
Adding one of Arana and David will not make a big impact but it will solidify the teams that will acquire them. Ginebra may need to add one veteran if you realize that their backcourt rotation currently stands as Tenorio-Mercado-Thompson-Caguioa-Helterbrand-Taha.Caguioa and Helterbrand will bring a lot of nostalgia but in reality, they are end-of-the-bench guys already. On the other hand, Gary David showed mastery of being a spark off-the-bench in Mahindra, scoring 7.3 points in 12.3 minutes per game.
Ginebra doesn't need a Gary David. He's good, can't deny that, but he has no consistency. That's why other teams don't want to gamble on him anymore, plus the fact that he is also at the twilight of his career. Also, there is a "theory" that he might be one of those "JINX" superstars that will be retiring without having even one Championship ring. As for AraƱa, Yeng Guiao will surely be interested taking him to play for NLEX for obvious reasons.
