There is a huge angle that is not being talk about in the recent TNT-PHX-MER blockbuster trade. It is the fact that RDO is the best player to be traded in the last half-decade and maybe even longer.
Yes. I am not joking. Think about the current status of RDO in the league. He is still a top 10 PBA player, right? Don't tell me you disagree.
Yeah, his elimination stats of 11.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 33.3% 3FG in 22.3 minutes of play is underwhelming. Wait. 22.3 minutes of play? Yes. Coach Racela's rotation has decreased his counting stats but his per36 minutes will reveal 18.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
And if we become more realistic, the Philippine Cup is a much better gauge. He is the 16th best scorer, 42nd best rebounder and 50th in passing. Showing how versatile he is.
His offensive rating will show a very rare player. I don't think there is a better total offensive player in the league than RDO. He can do everything. From driving to the basket, hitting open threes, making plays for his teammates, finding open teammates, providing great picks, sealing his man on the post and working out plays.
You may say that Paul Lee should be considered in the conversation. I totally disagree. RDO is even a much better player than him, today.
To simplify things. How about name the players that are much better than RDO, today?
Fajardo, Castro, Romeo, Pringle, Lassiter, Abueva, Slaughter, Santos and Newsome?
