Losing is good for Blackwater

Losing sucks. Especially for a team that has a very promising young core, like Blackwater Elite. When this season started, a lot of experts look at Blackwater as a perennial playoffs entrant.

They started pretty well in the All Filipino Cup but they still ended up as one of the eliminated teams after the elimination round.

This Commissioner's Cup was worse because, after just six games, we already know that they will not make it. Of course, coach Leo Isaac suffered the consequences as he got fired.

But in reality, Blackwater is in a very good place.

They are now on track to grab the #1 pick in the upcoming draft. And who is the presumed #1 pick in this year's draft?

No other than Bobby Ray Parks Jr. The guy that is being hyped more than the amateur Junemar Fajardo, Calvin Abueva, Greg Slaughter, Arwind Santos and etc. back in the days.

Imagine a wing of Ray Parks and Mac Belo. They are versatile and talented forwards. Both can shoot from the outside, drive to the basket, shoot from the midrange and of course, defend with fierceness.

And then they will also have JP Erram at the paint. JP is on his way to developing a good set of scoring moves, which should complement his future wing-combo, pretty well.

Then the guard rotation of Blackwater is full of capable playmakers and consistent defenders.

In short, Blackwater is on their way to form a pretty formidable team, from the center position to their end of the bench.
