As predicted, Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel dominated game 1. Even with capable stoppers, San Miguel Beermen failed to slow down Justin Brownlee.
Joe Devance also feasted with their fast pace offense that featured a lot of passes. They even limited June Mar Fajardo to just 13 points.
Can Ginebra repeat it in game 2? Let us see.
KEY FACTORS
Greg Slaughter
Free-throw shooting
Bench
The bench was a big part of game 2. San Miguel tried to dig deep from their bench and Christian Standhardinger showed up with his 26 points. Coach Tim gave 10 minutes or more to five bench players who totaled 32 points and 14 rebounds.
San Miguel should not forget to do some free-throw shooting drill before game 2 because they only managed 14/25 in game 1.
Greg Slaughter is not getting enough credit for what he did in game 1. He run fast, he moved the ball and he was energetic and hustling on the defensive end. This may sound ridiculous but Greg is as vital as Justin Brownlee in this series.
PREDICTION
I expect the Beermen to come out with more focus and they will be more familiar with the sets and tactics of the Gin Kings.
This game will be much closer than game 1 and with more minutes for Standhardinger, who I expect to be part of the bench, San Miguel will produce enough to get the W.
