We will be having a 1st and 2nd mythical team. The squad will be composed of two guards, two forwards and one who can play center.
C - Christian Standhardinger
Yah. Yah. Yah. Standhardinger only played half of the season but that was enough to clearly see that he is one of the top 5 players in the league. In the on-going Governors' Cup, Stan is producing import-like numbers of 23.3 points, 13.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 60% FG per game.
His combination of strength, athleticism, handle and grit made him hard to stop in the league. By next season, he will make it clear that he is as good as June Mar Fajardo.
F - Vic Manuel
This season, Alaska Aces officially formed their new Big 2. The Muscle Man made an incredible run of 20 or more points games in the Commissioner's Cup. Overall, he averaged 24.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 58% FG in just 22 minutes of play per game.
The entire PBA universe already recognizes him as the best post-scorer in the game but he can also hit catch and shoot midrange jumpers.
F - Paul Lee
The Leethal Weapon has been under the radar for the entire season. Not to my eyes though. Even with the loaded backcourt in Magnolia, Lee has separated himself as the leader of the team.
He averaged more than 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 three-pointers made and 34% 3FG in the three conferences! Let us not forget about his ability to hit clutch shots which is important to the success of a team!
G - Mark Barroca
Barroca is playing the right system for his skillset. His defensive scrappiness is well-emphasized in the system of coach Chito Victolero. For the three conferences, he produced 1.9 steals or more! His defense alone has put him into consideration for this spot.
His offense locks him here. In this conference, he averaged 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.9 steals, 52% FG and 38% 3FG per game. If he is playing efficiently on offense, he is one of the top 3 point guards in the league.
G - Scottie Thompson
His impactful way of playing basketball was awarded in the 2018 Com. Cup Finals where they gave him the Finals MVP plum. Overall, Thompson's rebounding has been one of the foundations of Ginebra.
He was top 4 in rebounds for each conference this season. Just to emphasize how good he was, he was only behind JP Erram and June Mar Fajardo in the 2018 Philippine Cup! Other than his rebounding, his defense was also very good.
Of course, he has settled in as the best stat-filling guard in the league. Capable of producing triple-doubles in back-to-back games.
