How good is Jordan Clarkson?

Now that our Philippine national basketball team is part of the 2019 FIBA World Cup, the attention is now on Jordan Clarkson.

Why?

Because there is no denying that he is the best Filipino basketball player today.

According to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, they will exert their best effort for Clarkson to be allowed as part of the team for the World Cup.

So, is Clarkson really that good?

Yes.

First, I am pretty sure you already know his NBA history. He was drafted 46th in the 2014 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and played for them for three-and-a-half seasons before Cleveland traded for him.

He is a bonafide scorer from the get-go, averaging double figure in points in each season that he played.

Currently, he is producing a career-high 17.1 points per game, 1.6 points higher than his 2nd best which he did in 2015.

Although he has a reputation of a chucker, he is actually efficient. He is currently shooting 44.7% from the field, 33.2% from beyond the arc and 51.7% inside the arc.

His 44.7% FG is better than the FG% of Kemba Walker, Russell Westbrook, Donovan Mitchell, D'Angelo Russell, Mike Conley, Luka Doncic, Jamal Murray and etc.

Other than his scoring, he can also create and make the right passes for his teammates. He once averaged 3.5 assists per game and currently provides 2.4 dimes per game.

He can also work off-the-ball, as 79.1% of his three-pointers were assisted.

Overall, there is no question to me that coach Yeng can run our offense through him and he will do a good job about it.
