At the end of their conference, coach Norman Black was quick to tell the media that the franchise will change something in their roster. It hasn't happened yet.
Maybe, just maybe, that was all about Parks. Unfortunately, the deal seems dead now.
On the other hand, Ginebra just suffered a quick exit from the Philippine Cup at the hands of their rival, Magnolia Hotshots.
Fans are mad and want to see some upgrades in their line-up.
So, how about Meralco and Ginebra talking together and making a deal to help each other?
So, let me give my own unsolicited advice.
The Big Deal
Greg Slaughter for Baser Amer & Trevis Jackson
I think Greg Slaughter will have a better value than that but the guard combination of Baser Amer and Trevis Jackson is also a unique combo that is not seen anywhere in the PBA. Amer and Jackson are both credible shooters, off-the-catch and pulling up.
The ability to hit pull-up 3s is the most dangerous weapon in the league today. For Ginebra, they only have one credible guard who can do that, LA Tenorio. What is great about Baser Amer and Trevis Jackson too is their youth. Amer is only 26 and Jackson is much younger at 22. Thus they have the capacity to be a fixture in their guard rotation for the next decade.
Greg is, of course, a top 10 big in the league. He will surely be a giant help to Meralco. Size has always been the problem of Meralco. Getting the biggest player in the league will surely help.
The Small Deal
Prince Caperal for Nard Pinto
This is a simple deal to fill-up some of the needs of the two squads. Ginebra needs a shooter who can at least defend. Nard Pinto can do that. Meralco badly needs any type of bigman who can handle the giants of the league. Caperal can do that.
If they cannot do a big one, how about a small deal like this?
