I hope you have heard about a brewing trade rumor. According to the rumor, a point guard wants to be traded.
The primary suspect is Chris Banchero.
Now, let us assume that Chris really wants to be traded. Which three teams should call Alaska now and start negotiating?
COLUMBIAN
I am hoping the Dyip franchise is finally serious about competing in the PBA because CJ Perez looks like a future superstar in the league. What he needs right now is an elite point guard that will take-off some burden from him this early in his career. He will also learn a lot playing beside one of the best passing point guards in the league.
Adding Banchero will not make Columbian a playoff contender right away but a point guard like him will fit better in an unconventional scheme that the Dyip is employing.
NLEX
Kiefer Ravena is back to help NLEX end their season with a playoff appearance in the 2019 Governors' Cup. With Kevin Alas in the sideline again due to an injury and with a big risk that Kevin will not comeback as a starting-caliber guard, NLEX should look for a new partner of Kiefer.
Chris Banchero could be the perfect guy. You can look at it as the PBA version of the Dame Lillard-CJ McCollum duo in the NBA. And for a young franchise who is still building a fanbase, putting together two good looking guards is a great marketing ploy.
SAN MIGUEL
Chris Ross and Alex Cabagnot are already 34 and 36 years old, respectively. If the Beermen fail in this conference, maybe the time has come for a changing of the guards kind of move. I do not think Banchero is obviously better than the two future Hall-of-Famers.
Same with NLEX. It will be a marketing dream to have Terrence Romeo and Chris Banchero in your team.
I agree 😊
