2019 PBA Com. Cup Finals: Where is Junemar Fajardo?

This is the era of Junemar Fajardo. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that he is the most dominant and impactful player in the league. That is the result of combining good skills with his size and athleticism.

The guy is currently on an unprecedented run of five straight MVPs and he has a good case of getting his sixth this season. This is the kind of domination that is hard to fathom in any type of league. That is how special Fajardo is.

That is also the reason why in this Finals, his team needs him the most. They are battling a well-oiled machine in TNT who has a weakness of not having playable centers that can match-up with him.

In the first three games, I did not feel the Kraken. Yes, Fajardo's averages of 20.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.0 steal and 54% FG per game is nothing to belittle and that deserves some respect.

But Fajardo has reached the level that those numbers are underwhelming for him. Especially against a team where only Terrence Jones can match him physically inside.

In game 3, he provided his best performance in the series so far with his 27 points and 13 rebounds. Unfortunately, he was not the monster that he was supposed to be in the 4th quarter. They entered the fourth quarter with 8 points deficit. San Miguel badly needs The Kraken.

The Kraken gave them 6 points, 2 rebounds 1 block. That is not bad for a quarter! But for a Fajardo, that was not enough.

And the number that disappointed me the most was his four shot attempts, twice he was fouled. If you have that much of an advantage, it is not selfishness for Fajardo to keep on taking shots and attacking the basket.

Unfortunately, he did not do that. And now, his team is again looking at the possibility of a failed grand slam bid.
