The 2019 FIBA World Cup will finally start today! I still cannot get over that a lot of our in-prime and young players decided to let go of the opportunity to represent our country in the biggest competition that they could possibly join!
Nevertheless, there are two PBA rookies that jolted the fans with their inclusion into the team. I am talking about CJ Perez and Robert Bolick.
Do not get too excited about them though. There is a really good chance that they will not meet the hype.
Why?
First, I do not expect coach Yeng Guiao to trust them that much. Bolick will surely be treated as a point guard and we have two more capable decision-makers there with international experience in Kiefer Ravena and Mark Barroca.
On the other hand, CJ Perez will be treated as a wing. I hope he was two inches taller and longer because with his size, he could be too small in the international play.
Secondly, both are not premium shooters that we badly need.
Paul Lee, RR Pogoy, and Troy Rosario will get more minutes by virtue of being better better shooters. Although, there is a good chance that what Bolick and Perez showed in the Commissioner's Cup are actually legit that they have become consistent three-point shooters.
Lastly, the defense in the FIBA World Cup will be much better than what they have faced in the PBA. It will really test their current skill level.
I am hoping I am wrong about this because if they overcome the hype, there is a good chance that we may have won more than a game.
these 2 are just support players ang rookies, over confident cause both are stand out player in college
