Not even two months into his new team, Christian Standhardinger is already embracing his 'face of the franchise' status.
The guy just told the media that making the quarterfinals with Northport is more meaningful than his handful of playoff runs with the San Miguel Beermen.
That speaks volume because he actually won a handful of championship with the Beermen. Is it about him hating on what he experienced with the Beermen or is he just having a great fun with his new franchise?
That was not only the meaningful statement that he gave. He was actually very eloquent in explaining that the franchise should build a culture of winning and it is not all about making the playoffs this conference.
And then he made the magical line. 'If it is not enough this conference, I think it will be enough next conference.'
Yes. The guy is looking forward to playing again with this team. While we anticipate and talk about where he will end up, is it Ginebra or Magnolia, the guy is actually looking forward to leading this franchise again next year.
I hope the PBA is listening because this is what the PBA needs.
Standhardinger is the rival of Junemar Fajardo that we have been waiting for. Northport is the right team for him. Let him be the man. Let him dominate. And let him carry this team into the playoffs.
At the very least, I am hoping that they give him the whole 2020 season because he could be the biggest challenger to Fajardo for the MVP award.
