PBA Free-Agency: San Miguel and Phoenix added a bigman!

Roster construction in the PBA continued last week as the San Miguel Beermen and the Phoenix Fuel Masters added some size.

San Miguel signed Bam Gamalinda who was coming from Magnolia Hotshots. While Phoenix added Jay-R Reyes who last played for Columbian Dyip.

Let us give the rightful grades for each decision!

SMB - BAM GAMALINDA
Bam Gamalinda is an undersize power forward who is already 33 years old. He can play the small forward position but he may not be that agile enough to defend the quickest forwards in the league. Offensively, he doesn't have the three-point shot to help their spacing. He is a ball-mover though. He is quick in making decisions and passing the ball.

Overall, San Miguel may have just added a player that they will not use that much. The roster spot should have been much better utilized for a center that they can throw to the giants of other teams for at most, five minutes.
Grade: E

PHX - JAY-R REYES
Reyes will instantly become the tallest and biggest player of the Fuel Masters. He will join the frontline of Justin Chua, Jason Perkins, Dave Marcelo, JC Intal and Jake Pascual. Reyes will be Phoenix' best defender against the giants of the league.

What is great about Reyes is the fact that he is already a willing three-point shooter. His efficiency is not yet there but the mere fact that he is taking threes and hitting some should provide better spacing to the team.

Overall, Phoenix needs a center and centers like Reyes are hard to find in the league.
Grade: A
