The San Miguel Beermen has made their choices. After trading Kelly Nabong to Northport Batang Pier and forgiving Arwind Santos, SMB has decided to let go of Ronald Tubid. All of those three were the main actors, together with Dez Wells, in the infamous practice-brawl at the camp of the Beermen last year.
Ronald's contract expired last January and San Miguel did not sent him a new offer. That means, any team can now sign him.
The question is, will anyone do that?
Knowing that he is already 38 years old and with a lot of controversies in his career, it is hard to fathom a team that will give him another chance.
One interesting team that should be able to used him is NLEX Road Warriors. They have a lot of guards that could learn a lot from him through conversation and by facing his very good defense during their practices.
One more interesting rumor that I have heard is about the possibility that Magnolia Hotshots will release Yankie Haruna.
Haruna was the #21 pick of the 2019 PBA draft by the Magnolia Hotshots and I praised that decision, a lot.
Haruna's main selling point is his high leaping ability. He recorded the highest vertical leap during the draft combine! I am not shocked though that Magnolia may not be able to give him a roster spot because they already have a loaded wing rotation, led by Paul Lee.
If he will become a free-agent, young teams like Columbian, Blackwater & Phoenix should consider him because he is not only athletic but have shown glimpses of shooting, scoring and even playmaking. He also has the tools to be a positive defender.
