We have heard in the news that Calvin has been doing everything out of his power, to show the PBA, that he is deserving of a second chance.
One coach that could be watching his situation carefully, is coach Yeng Guiao. According to a source, coach Yeng Guiao is interested in trading for Calvin, but not under suspension.
Coach Yeng Guiao and Calvin have clashed in the past. What can you expect from two persons who are known to be hot-headed and with wild mentality?
And their similarity in personality could also be the big reason for coach Yeng to be interested. He is fond of players who gave their all in the court. Calvin Abueva is elite in doing that.
One thing that I hope coach Yeng Guiao will realize is, trading for Calvin could help The Beast, a lot.
With the power of the MVP group in the PBA board, there is a good chance that it will be the key in unlocking his suspension.
In terms of fit, Calvin Abueva is just what the NLEX squad is looking for. They have a loaded guard rotation, led by Kiefer Ravena and Jericho Cruz. Their frontline is already good enough with JP Erram and JR Quinahan.
What they need is to put a do-it-all guy in their wing rotation, just like Abueva. It also helps a lot that the Beast will not be a hindrance to Kiefer, a ball-dominant guard, because Calvin could impact the game even without the ball.
This is one of those rumors that I am hoping to happen. It could be a league-changer.
