When will Northport trade Robert?
It will not happen. If Robert Bolick can control his entire career, he would like to only play for the franchise that drafted him. He told that in an interview with Spin.ph.
Other than playing for his entire career, Robert also badly wants to help Northport win a championship. He cited last conference, 2019 Governors' Cup, as a good sign that they are already in the right direction with Christian Standhardinger in town. Unfortunately, he suffered an ACL injury.
He was not supposed to play in the 2020 Philippine Cup because his scheduled return is around July. Fortunately, although of course, it could have been much better if the COVID-19 never arrived, ECQ happened. The earliest possible resumption now of the league in the middle of June.
So, Robert has a very good chance now of catching up with the conference and help them win a championship.
With him, Sean Anthony and Christian, Northport has a very good core to battle any team in the playoffs. Even the acquisition of a Kelly Nabong may turn out to be a blessing in disguise because of his elite combination of physicality and three-point shooting. And then the addition of Sean Manganti, who slipped in the draft. Northport has a more complete team than last season.
Now, going back to the wish of Robert of playing his entire career in the neon franchise, he was right to say that he is not in control. Especially with the rumors, it felt like it is proven already, that Northport is a farm team of the San Miguel Corporation teams.
Fortunately for him, all the SMC teams this season are loaded in the guard position. Out of the three franchises, Ginebra could be the team that will need a starting guard soon because of the possible retirement of LA Tenorio.
The question is, will Northport send another top guard to Ginebra?
