2020 PBA Trade Recommendation for Meralco: Finding the partner of Almazan!

Let us continue this series of articles wherein we will suggest a trade for each team that will catapult them to the right path. When I say the right path, the two extremes will be all-out contending and all-out tanking.

Today, we will tackle the Meralco Bolts who managed to reach the Finals again of the Governors' Cup. Unfortunately, Ginebra dominated them.

The most obvious reason was the injury of Raymond Almazan. They looked capable when Almazan was playing.

So, Meralco should try to find a bigman who is near the value of Almazan. Fortunately for them, there are some bigs who were rumored to be looking for new homes in the past.

I think, it is much better for Meralco to target Vic Manuel and offer this exchange.
Alaska trade: Vic Manuel
Meralco trade: three 2nd round picks, Trevis Jackson, Allein Maliksi

Knowing that one of their future 1st is already owed to Rain or Shine and that the 2020 1st is projected to be super depth, it is much better for Meralco to offer a quantity of 2nd round picks.

Jackson is a former top 6 pick. He may not have shown enough in his rookie season, but his potential though was still pretty obvious.

Maliksi is of course the veteran that can help fill the majority of the current value of Manuel. Alaska still lacks play-creators like Maliksi.

What Meralco is basically doing here is trying to offer quantity for Manuel.

With Manuel in the line-up, the frontline of Meralco is fortified.

  1. Hahaha.. this is balony! Offering journey man Maliksi and unproven Jackson for Manuel plus 2nd round picks?? Haha. Aces don't need a player like Maliksi because they have K Racs, Herndon, Jeron, Bulanadi they are so stacked up to that position likewise with Jackson. They might can offer Hodge and Amer or Hodge and Newsome for Manuel.
