With the decision of Thirdy Ravena to join the Japan B League, there is a good chance that he will not be available for the 2020 draft.
So, without him, how will the 2020 draft go down?
Let us predict by having a mock draft.
#1 DYIP Kobe Paras (#1 last mock)
Without Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras, Jamie Malonzo and Joshua Munzon are the best names to dispute the top pick. With his popularity and very high potential, Paras will the pick here.
#2 NLEX Jamie Malonzo (#3 last mock)
If Ravena is out of the picture, it makes it much easier to choose Malonzo because they can now choose a more capable shooter with the #3 pick.
#3 NLEX Calvin Oftana (#5 last mock)
The name Joshua Munzon is more popular for this spot but I doubt NLEX will not utilize one of their two 1st round picks to get one of their college guys. So, getting the 2019 NCAA MVP should be fine here.
#4 ALA Justine Baltazar (#3 last mock)
Alaska is slowly building their team of the future. Calvin Abueva, and Chris Banchero are out. Joachim Thoss will follow soon through retirement. Getting Baltazar and combining him with Abu Tratter is an amazing decision.
#5 MER Joshua Munzon (#7 last mock)
Meralco needs a young big more than another wingman because of the presence of Chris Newsome, Allein Maliksi and Bong Quinto. But the Munzon has the talent to be better than those guys. That will be hard to pass up.
#6 PHX Jason Brickman (#6 last mock)
Phoenix may have the weakest point guard rotation in the league, except Blackwater. Fortunately for them, they could be drafting the most ready-to-play PG this century.
#7 NOR Troy Rike (#8 last mock)
There is a good chance that Northport may have drafted the most number of forward/bigman in the last ten drafts. Rike will be a solid partner to Christian Standhardinger if his three-point shooting becomes consistent.
#8 ROS Ricci Rivero (NEW!)
I am pretty sure Magnolia/Purefoods fans are still waiting for the guy that will continue the legacy of Alvin Patrimonio and James Yap. A good-looking ace player. Ricci could be that guy.
#9 MAG Santi Santillan (#11 last mock)
Magnolia will surely go for the best bigman available. Santillan is that guy at this point. He is highly skilled and has a smooth jumper that he can develop into a three-point shot.
#10 BGSM Juan Gomez De Liano (#10 last mock)
Yes, there is really a good chance that the most hype guard in the amateurs today will end up with Ginebra and be the guy to replace LA Tenorio.
#11 NOR Alvin Pasaol (NEW!)
If Pasaol is available at this point, it will be hard for Northport to say no because of his popularity and obvious talent. Imagine a five of Bolick-Pasaol-Anthony-Rike-Standhardinger. It looks championship-caliber five for the next three years.
#12 SMB Franky Johnson (#12 last mock)
San Miguel will be hard-pressed for this one because James Laput, 6'9, could still be there. But Johnson's athleticism and skill level should give him the nod form the Beermen's decision-maker.
