Finally, the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup is ongoing. So, there is an assurance now that a 2020 PBA draft will happen.
So, here is another mock draft for you. For this one, we used a draft order that is in consonance with our initial power ranking.
#1 NLEX - Kobe Paras (#1 Last Mock)
At this point, this is still the draft of Kobe Paras. He is the most popular and most hyped from the national media. I am excited to watch him again in UAAP to see if he has improved.
#2 NLEX - Sedrick Barefield (#2 Last Mock)
Is it really next to impossible that an Undrafted NBA player who played well in NBA G League to suddenly decide and go home to wreak havoc in the PBA? It can happen.
#3 ALA - Justine Baltazar (#6 Last Mock)
I will not be shocked if they see Malonzo as too similar to Abu Tratter that they will take his partner, Baltazar. Baltazar is the guy that can actually play well enough in the upcoming UAAP season to challenge Kobe for the #1 pick.
#4 PHX - Jamie Malonzo (#3 Last Mock)
Jamie is the Best Player Available at this point and he is a bigman that Phoenix badly needs. With his athleticism and ability to hit three-point shots, he will be a good addition to the core of Fuel Masters.
#5 DYIP - Troy Rike (#7 Last Mock)
If Dyip gets Rike in the draft, their future just looks way brighter. Imagine a five of CJ Perez-Rashawn McCarthy-Roosevelt Adams-Trok Rike-Isaac Go and tell me their weakness?
#6 MER - Calvin Oftana (#5 Last Mock)
Oftana is another guy that you should look out for in the upcoming college basketball season because his San Beda team regressed in terms of talent. So, his responsibility is now greater and we can expect him to get more touches.
#7 SMB - Ricci Rivero (#11 Last Mock)
San Miguel is the kind of team that can take a player that is more about popularity than real skills. Although, Rivero's potential is real. His slashing ability is pretty underrated and he can also create plays for his teammates.
#8 MAG - Larry Muyang (#9 Last Mock)
Muyang is your prototypical huge size center that produced good numbers in college. Can he be better than that? At this point in the draft, he is the best bet for Magnolia to find a future replacement for Rafi Reavis.
#9 ROS - Jason Brickman (#10 Last Mock)
Brickman can really fall in this draft because of the fact that only a few teams are actually looking for a starting-caliber guard. Rain or Shine is one of those teams and I think, he and Rey Nambatac will be an elite backcourt.
#10 BGSM - Taylor Statham (#4 Last Mock)
Will we finally see Statham in the PBA? I am hoping because I really want to see how the PBA will react to a 6'6 point guard. Yes. Statham can easily be the Luka Doncic of the PBA, which means Ginebra fans will love him.
#11 NOR - Santi Santillan (#8 Last Mock)
Northport is known for grabbing bigs and Santillan is the best bigman available. He is not capable of playing center but he is pretty skilled and agile to play in the perimeter and lengthy enough to play power forward.
#12 NOR - Jeo Ambohot (NEW!)
What makes me excited about this draft is the possible high number of quality bigs that will enter. Ambohot could be one of those guys. Look out for him because I see a lot of Rosario in the way he operates.
